Halifax West is a neighborhood located on the western half of the Halifax peninsula located in the Halifax Regional Municipality situated among tree-lined older style residential streets.
History
Halifax West was originally developed in the late 1800's as a residential area branching out from the downtown, including the development of the Chebucto Field Airport in the 1920's, and Simpsons shopping center in the 1930's. Chebucto School was built in 1912 to serve the growing population in the area. The large remaining areas were populated with Victorian style houses after world war II and in th 1950's, suburban style homes.
