Fairview is a great community for first-time home buyers - or anyone looking to live within minutes of downtown Halifax at an affordable price. Get more for your money in Fairview(pop. approximately 13,000); a former community and current neighbourhood within the urban core of Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia.
History:
Fairview, Nova Scotia was established at the heart of several railway line junctions. In 1958, Fairview was the home of one of Halifax’s first suburban High Schools; Halifax West (original Dutch Village Road location). During the 1969 amalgamation of unincorporated Halifax County, communities such as Fairview, Rockingham, and Spryfield became an official part of the City of Halifax. Later in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Fairview was home to the newly constructed and popular Bayers Road Shopping Centre. The last subdivision completed was Keystone Court at the top of Fairview in 1990.
Fairview has continued to grow in popularity; especially for first time home buyers looking for affordable housing within a short drive to downtown Halifax and Clayton Park. Fairview has been gradually gentrifying as urban professionals seeking shorter commutes into Halifax are rediscovering the neighbourhood and its century-old charm!
